Shane-Christopher, 6 years old, has a very rare medical condition called Aicardi-Gutierrez Syndome. This rare genetic disorder, which affects parts of the brain and bone, prevents Shane from walking and speaking. Shane-Christopher’s wish was to have his very own special needs bike. His family had already done a lot of research on the perfect rehabilitation bike-”Freedom Cycle” by Freedom Concepts. They discovered that this cycle would provide Shane-Christopher with more mobility and would enable him to gain enough strength in his legs so that he may someday walk. His new bike would also allow him the simple joy of riding a bicycle with new friends- truly a wish that would keep on giving!
Shane-Christopher enjoyed his new bike by participating in a bike parade and party at a local park. Shane arrived at the park to find a pavilion decorated with balloons, fliers, a poster, and banners of love celebrating his wish day. Seeing Shane-Christopher pedal his Freedom Cycle on his own for the very first time brought tears to everyone’s eyes. Shane could finally ride with his friends and peers. After a full afternoon of riding he stopped long enough to enjoy snacks and drinks before heading home!
