Evan is a 15 year old boy with leukemia who loves loves loves to paint and fish. So when asked what he wished for, his answer was not a surprise…Evan wished to meet professional fisherman and painter, Guy Harvey. This was the first opportunity for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to reach out to Guy Harvey who was very happy to grant a wish for us and went above and beyond.
The family stayed at the Westin Casuarina in the Grand Cayman Islands. Guy took the family out on his personal boat and spent the entire day with them and even helped Evan catch a 145lb blue marlin which was added to his cultivation record as the 150th blue marlin caught in that area. Among other fish they also caught a wahu fish which they brought back to Guy’s restaurant to grill and enjoy. Evan also went on a tour of Guy’s art gallery and was given a few private art lessons.
The family was extremely grateful for this opportunity and had the time of their lives. Evan’s mom wrote to us saying, “The water was so beautiful and Guy was very gracious. He served as a host, deckhand, captain and mentor. The past year was such a rollercoaster going through Evan’s illness and this was truly a time of no worries and beyond what we could have imagined.”
Evan hopes to become a marine biologist when he grows up.
