Ten-year-old Michael, with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, was gratned his wish…to meet his favorite Tampa Bay Lightning player, Vinny Lecavalier! Michael was ecstatic when Vinny told him that he could watch the team practice and maybe get a chance to skate. When Michael and his family arrived, the team showed him to the locker room, where an official Lecavalier jersey was hanging in “his” locker space! Much to Michael’s surprise, he was involved in every aspect of the practice: passing the puck around with Vinny to warm up, leading the entire team in stretches and the first lap around the rink and playing a scrimmage game where he scored a couple of goals! After practice, the head coach presented Michael a bag of official Lightning pucks and gathered the team in the center of the ice for a photo. Before the end of the day, Vinny signed his hockey stick and gave it to Michael. In return, Michael gave Vinny a framed letter stating that he was his #1 fan and that he really likes the way he plays.
